Three Kannada films vie for glory at the New York Indian Film Festival

This year will see as many as three Kannada feature films at the New York Indian Film Festival. Made by indie filmmakers, these films attempt to capture different shades of life in the state. Among them, Pinki Elli has been chosen as the opening film of the festival. The other two films are Koli Taal and Neeli Hakki, both made by young debutants.

Film: Neeli Hakki
Director: Ganesh Hegde
Ganesh says, “We are glad that Neeli Hakki has been selected to screen at New York Indian Film Festival, which is the result of a simple storytelling. The movie narrates the story of a 10-year-old boy who prefers his roots rather and not his parents’ ambitions for better things in life. When such stories are selected to international film festivals, it connects to global audiences and helps promote them on a bigger stage. The film has been shot extensively in pristine locales of Sirsi. Actors Nidhi and Aman who play mother and son in the film stayed together for some days to get the chemistry and bond just right onscreen.”

Aman S Karkera, student of *Prestige International* has been nominated for the *New York Indian Film Festival* for the film, *Blue Bird,* for the title of Best Child Actor.

The other 2 films are Pinki Elli & Koli Taal.
